Bernell Gifford

Bernell D. "B.D." Gifford, 90, of Eubank, KY passed away Saturday, November 6, 2010 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

He was born on August 12, 1920 in Mintonville, Kentucky, son of the late Jesse & Amma Eastham Gifford. He was a retired postmaster from the Eubank post office of 44 years. He was a director for 16 years at First State Bank. He was a member of Eubank Church of Christ, where he taught Sunday School for 52 years, a former member of Eubank fire department and Eubank Ruritan club. He was a staff sergeant in the 5th Air force during WWII.

He is survived by his wife, Lorene Waddle Hines Gifford, whom he married on October 31, 2000, two sons, David (and Louise) Gifford of LaGrange, KY, Pat (and Shirley) Gifford of Ferguson, KY, one brother, Dale (and Shirley) Gifford of Somerset, KY, five grandchildren, Rachel (and C.N.) Graves, Lt. Chris (and Julie) Gifford, Dannette (and Steve) Donohue, Matthew Gifford, Robyn (and Jarrett) Foster, and three great-grandchildren, Patrick, Nicholas & Aubrey Graves.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, June Wallace Gifford whom he married on September 22, 1944 and passed away on October 26, 1999 and two sisters, Fern Barber and Joyce Beall.

A funeral service will be held at 10 AM Wednesday November 10, 2010 at Morris and Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Virgil Thaddeus Eubank and Bro. Ferlin Price officiating.

Military honors will be conducted by American Legion Post #38 Honor Guard.

Burial will be in Lakeside Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be after 6:30 PM on Tuesday November 9, 2010 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home.
