Clifton Dykes

Clifton William "Sonny" Dykes, age 79, of Somerset, KY., passed away on Saturday August 22, 2015 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
He was born on November 23, 1935 in Hail, KY to the late Carl and Irene Haynes Dykes. He was a member of the Burnside Masonic Lodge #634. He was of Baptist Faith and loved to sing and play the guitar.
Clifton was preceded in death by his wife, Roberta Jasper Dykes, his parents, Carl and Irene Dykes, one daughter, Pamela Dykes, two sisters, Zella (Tootsie) Barnes and Sylvia (Bea) Belcher, one granddaughter, Laura Ruth Pitman, and two great-grandchildren, Dayona and Justin Pitman.
He is survived by six children, Mary Lou Dykes of Eubank, KY; Elizabeth Dykes (and Roy) Messenger of Somerset, KY; Clifton E. "Kip" Dykes of Colorado; Drema Delay of Somerset, KY; Dinah Groce of Tennessee; and Donavan Dykes of Somerset, KY; one brother, Ronald (and Barbara) Dykes of Lexington, one sister, Mable Brock of Berea, KY; 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a special lifetime friend, Ed Murray, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Thursday August 27, 2015 at 6pm in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home. The Burnside Masonic Lodge #634 will conduct Masonic Rites for Mr. Dykes at 6pm.
Funeral Service will be held on Friday August 28, 2015 at 11am in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home Bro. Jeff Griffith and Bro. David Muse officiating.
Burial will follow in Lakeside Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Gideon Bible Fund in C/O Southern Oaks Funeral Home 2110 West Hwy 914 Somerset, KY 42503.
