Darlene Long

Darlene McGowan Long, age 72, of Somerset passed from this life on Thursday, June 24, 2021 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital after an extended illness.

She was born on December 15, 1948 in the Jabez Community, daughter of the late Earnest and Rittie McGowan.  Darlene was a kind-hearted and loving person who loved everyone, especially her family and friends.  She expressed her hope in Christ and was saved at a revival several years ago.  She enjoyed watching WLJC Gospel Music Station every evening along with cooking shows.  She will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved her.

Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by two brothers; Mitchell McGowan and Richard McGowan and a sister who died in infancy; Betty McGowan.

She is survived by 2 sons; Robert “Robbie” (Penny) Long and Jeffery “Jeff” Long, two grandchildren; Autumn (Geoff) Wallace and Jacob Long, one great-grandchild; Millie Wallace, four brothers; Everett “Duke” (Sharon) McGowan of Somerset, Johnny (Gloria) McGowan, Arlo (Joy) McGowan of Nancy and Leon (Katherine) McGowan of Burnside and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 Noon on Monday, June 28, 2021                    in the Chapel of Somerset Undertaking Company.  The Funeral Services will be at 12:00 Noon in the Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Dallas Burton and Bro. Larry Butte Officiating.  Interment will be in the Lakeside Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
