Delores Tyler

Delores Estelle McKee Tyler, age 96, of Morehead Road, Wallingford, passed away Sunday, July 30, 2017, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead.

Born June 3, 1921, in Somerset, a daughter of the late Raymond and Georgia Beasley McKee, Delores was raised by the late Crawford and Mamey Mercer.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Moss "Dick" Tyler on August 25, 1995; her stepson, Gene Tyler; two half-brothers, Raymond McKee, Jr. and William McKee; two half-sisters, Terri McKee Young and Mary McKee Rector; and her foster siblings, Jackie Mercer, Helen Walls Burgin, Willard Stringer, and Dorothy Stringer Coomer.

Mrs. Tyler is survived by two step daughters, Carolyn Messer of Patterson, California, and Margaret "Tish" Young of Morehead; two half-sisters, Gloria Josephine Thorpe and Ruth Wilkins, both of Michigan; and special family members, Jill Jackson, Delores Smith, Andy Mercer, Bradley Mercer, and Suzanne Land.

She graduated from Morehead State University where she received her bachelor's and master's degrees with distinction. Delores retired from the Fleming County Board of Education after teaching 23 years at Fox Valley Elementary School. She was a member of the Saline Church of God in Somerset and attended Crain Creek Christian Church.

Funeral services will be conducted 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 2, 2017, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Darry Cooper and the Rev. Beulah Weaver officiating. Graveside services will be conducted 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, August 2, 2017, at Lakeside Memorial Gardens in Somerset with Ray Carmichael officiating.

Pallbearers: Brad Mercer, Andy Mercer, Jason Mercer, Nicholas Mercer, Matt Foudray, and Joe Jackson.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, August 1, 2017, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead.
