Edna Opal Fisher, age 92, of the Pleasant Hill community, departed this life on Thursday, May 27, 2010 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
She was born on May 21, 1918 in Somerset, KY, the daughter of J.W. and Ruth (Hines) Girdler. She was a retired head cook at Pulaski County Elementary School and a lifelong active member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. She loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Mrs. Fisher is survived by two grandsons, Eddie (and Linda) Fisher of Somerset and Christopher (and Kristin) Fisher of Somerset; two granddaughters, Debbie (and Ray) Browning of Somerset and Tracy Fisher (and Tim) of Indiana; seven great grandchildren, Billy Fisher III, Jaci Fisher, Darrin Brooks, Allen and Marcus Browning, Tonya Nelson, and Brody Fisher; and a daughter-in-law, Karen Fisher of Somerset.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Herbert Cecil "Pete" Fisher, whom she married in April 1936 in Somerset, KY; a son, Billy E. Fisher; a brother, Larry G. Girdler; a half brother, Mitt Girdler; and a half sister, Clara Girdler.
Visitation for Mrs. Fisher will be Monday, May 31st at 6:00 pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home, 1046 West Highway 80, Somerset.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, June 1st at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. C. E. Jacobs and Bro. Marty Shadoan officiating. Burial will follow in the Lakeside Memorial Gardens.
