Irene Withers

Irene Adams Withers of Science Hill, KY, while residing in Rochester Hills MI, went home to celebrate Christmas with Jesus on Christmas Eve December 24, 2010.

Irene was born in Cincinnati, OH on February 27, 1920 to Florence & Andrew Adams. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Irene retired from Kmart Corporation while at that time living in Delray Beach, FL. In her later years she spent winters in Tavares, FL with her husband, John at Riverest Park. While there she enjoyed shuffle board, cards, arts & crafts. Her first passion was her love for the Lord. She was a member of Shepherds Fold Full Gospel Church. This was followed by the time she spent with her family and friends cooking and serving the needs of others. Irene had a smile that would warm any heart. She will be greatly missed by all.

Irene is preceded in death by John L., her husband of 67 years.

She is survived by her sister, Christine Kuhn of Cincinnati, OH; daughters, Phyllis Diehr (Gerald) of Rochester Hills, MI and Nancy Whitson (JR) of Kingsport, TN; grandchildren, Nicole(Smith), Jon & Guy Diehr, Lynette & Todd Ide; and great-grandchildren, Micah, Jessica, Hannah & Josiah Smith, Kelsie & Jon Logan Ide, Blake McNabb, John Hailey & Brie Diehr.

Visitation will be at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home Tuesday, January 4th from 5-9 p.m. for friends. Services will be held on Wednesday, January 5th at 10:00 a.m. at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with procession to Lakeside Memorial Gardens. There will be a luncheon at Southside Church of God of Prophecy for family & friends immediately following.
