John Morris departed this earthly abode for his heavenly home on Monday the 12th day of November 2018. He was 86 years of age.
John was born March 27, 1932, in Science Hill, KY and enjoyed 66 years of marriage to the love of his life, Beverly Morris. God blessed them richly with a son and a daughter. John retired in 1985 after 33 years working for Eldridge Trucking. In his retirement, John spent many happy years wintering in Okeechobee, Florida.
John loved telling stories, working with his hands, working in his garden, visiting with family and friends, his grandchildren and great-granddaughter, and spending precious time traveling with his wife. John was a proud Christian whose service to the Lord continued as long as he was physically able. He was a longtime member of Duke Memorial Baptist Church.
John was preceded in death by his parents, George and Jennie Hoskins Morris; his brothers, Robert, Raymond, Bill, James, George Jr., and Earl; his sisters, Marie, Mavis, and Charlene; and his daughter, Eva Maria “Peanut” Dyer.
Left to mourn his passing are: his wife, Beverly Morris of Science Hill, KY; his son, James (Sonya) Morris of Science Hill, KY; his granddaughter, Amanda Morris of Science Hill, KY; his grandson, Matthew (Shelly) Dyer of Somerset, KY; his great-granddaughter, Monroe Dyer of Somerset, KY; numerous beloved nieces and nephews; and a host of dear family members and friends.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, November 16, 2018, at 11:00 a.m., in the Lakeside Memorial Gardens mausoleum chapel, with Bro. Randy Smith and Bro. Brian Owens officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice of Lake Cumberland or for Gideons International Memorial Bibles.
