Lowell Tarter

September 30, 1932 — July 7, 2024

Lowell Tarter, age 91, of Nancy, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 7, 2024.

Lowell was born on September 30, 1932 in Nancy, KY to the late Oda and Blanche Clark Tarter. He married his high school sweetheart, Eltie Muse Tarter, in 1951. Shortly thereafter, they bought the farm in Naomi (now Nancy), that became their lifelong home. Lowell loved the country life, being outdoors, farming, and caring for the animals. He was a faithful servant and member at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Nancy. Lowell was a United States Army veteran and served in the Korean War.

He is survived by one brother, J.C. Tarter of Nancy; two sisters-in-law, Christa Muse Cheek of St. Petersburg, FL and Vickie (and Edward) Keeney of Nancy; and many nieces and nephews who adored their Uncle Lowell. On the Tarter side, Bruce (and Cindy) Tarter, Sherrie (and Mike) Lightner, Pam (and Mike) Williams, Don (and Debbie) Tarter, Lisa Norfleet, Trena (and Randy) Schultz, Jamie (and Tom) Greene, and Julie Osman. On the Muse side; Sandra (and Wendell) Denney, Becky (and Ernest) DeBord, Michael (and Jackie) Muse, Annette (and Bob) Howard, Mary Alice (and Dan) Hillman, Beth (and Dan) Datillo, Esther Henderson, Amos Muse, Jr., Renee Muse, Jean Reindl, Patty Eagy, Teresa (and Dan) Johnson, Ken (and Layne) Cheek, David (and Nancy) Cheek, Joshua Muse, and Melissa (and Zack) Bales. He is also survived by many extended family members and friends, including special friends considered as family, Debbie (and Mike) Farler and like a son, Steven (and Jennifer) Johnson.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Eltie Tarter; infant daughter, Connie Louise Tarter; two brothers, Hubert (and Ann) Tarter and Harold (and Wilma) Tarter; one sister, Helen (and James) Norfleet; four sisters-in-law, Sue Tarter, Norma Muse, Becky Langford, and Mary Muse; five brothers-in-law, Irvin Muse, Tinsley Muse, Amos Muse, Dwain Muse, and Gladstone Muse; one niece, Robin Duncan; and one nephew, Lanny Gale Tarter.

Visitation will be on Thursday, July 11, 2024 from 11:00am until 1:00pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.

His funeral service will follow on Thursday, July 11, 2024 at 1:00pm at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Jimmy York and Bro. Larry Harris officiating. Burial will be in Lakeside Memorial Gardens. Military Honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post #38 Honor Guard.
