Marie Abbott, age 87, of Somerset, KY, passed away on Thursday, January 26, 2017 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
Marie was born on September 1, 1929 in Somerset, KY to the late W.M. Dick and Gertie Spaw Dick. She was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. During her last hour she was surrounded by her family, friends and grand dog, Yum Yum. She never met a stranger and enjoyed collecting antiques. Marie made a positive difference in many people's lives.
She is survived by her daughter, Deborah Abbott of Fort Myers, FL; and one brother, Donald Dick of Imlay City, MI; along with many nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Abbott, whom she married on September 11, 1950 in Somerset, and he preceded her on November 3, 1993; and a sister, Faustine Roy.
Visitation will be on Friday, January 27, 2017 after 6:00pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.
Her funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at 10:00am at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Roger Weddle officiating. Burial will be at Lakeside Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests expressions of sympathy be made the Gideon Bible Memorial Fund.
