Johnnie "Walker" Poynter, age 85, of Somerset, KY, passed away on Sunday, March 4, 2018 at Rockcastle Regional Hospital.
Walker was born on October 3, 1932 in Plato, KY to the late David Poynter and Gracie Nicely Poynter. He was a life-long member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. Walker loved his dog, Bambi and enjoyed taking long walks, farming and carpentry work.
He is survived by one daughter, Vicki (and Bill) Edwards of Somerset, KY; one sister, Velma (and Keith) Norton of Somerset, KY; two grandchildren, Billie Edwards Jr. of Lexington, KY and Kathleen (and Cody) Dixon of Somerset, KY; and one great-granddaughter, Brooke Dixon.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Bessie Bullock Poynter; two brothers, Russell Poynter and Roy Poynter; and one infant brother.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 from 11:00am until 1:00pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.
His funeral service will follow on Wednesday at 1:00pm with Bro. Jessie McCoy officiating. Burial will be at Lakeside Memorial Gardens.
